Willow’s Secrets

Willow’s Secrets

Author Sally Avery Bermanzohn has ancestral roots in northern Alabama where Willow’s Secrets takes place. She grew up in New York, and in the 1960s went south to college where she became active in the movements for civil rights, women’s equality, and labor organizing.

In 1979, she participated in a demonstration that was attacked by the Ku Klux Klan killing five demonstrators, and wounding her husband. Years later, Sally earned a PhD in Political Science at the City University of New York. Now retired, she resides with her husband in the Hudson Valley.

Reviewer Veritas Vincit described Willow’s Secrets as, “transformative,” “timely,” and well researched. “It is rare for a book to feel so casual and familial, a slice of wholesome historical fiction, yet also it probes deeply into many controversial or challenging subjects that still feel relevant today,” writes Vincit.

The blend of multiple race dynamics, and the tension during those years in American history have been captured “for readers of all ages to better understand that period.”
